Finally, it's here!
After months of work, I can now proudly present an early access version of my 3D Character Creation System for Godot 4.
Heads up:
This is an early access version, so there are currently some limitations and small issues.
Known issues:
- The include human models has a couple of noticable areas where improvements can be made in the meshes.
- Limited hairstyles, eyebrows etc.
- Lack of clothing. I intend to add more basic clothing to serve as a better starting point for further modeling and texturing by the developer(s).
What's this?
It's an Addon/Plugin for Godot 4 that lays the groundwork for a character creation system and includes a ready-to-use Human Race. All code is pure GDScript. It's aimed to be extensible and highly customizable. It uses custom Resource types extensively throughout.

In Depth:
Characters can be created in-editor, and can be saved and loaded as a .tres or as .json format for when saving a game character.
Flexible customization System
Each defined race can contain any number of configurable options, such as: Blendshapes or material parameters (colors, textures, float, int etc.).
Simple but powerful clothing and equipment system.
Clothing can be defined in a variety of ways and be specific to any race+gender combination. Clothing is simply tied to a 'slot'. Accessories or other items such as weapons can also quite easily be defined.
Human Race Included
(with all blender source files) - ready for you to customize, fork to another race such as orcs, elves or whatever you like.
The human race includes a couple of animations such as idle, walk, jog, run as well as some facial expressions, a breathing animation that animates the lungs and a few others, to get you started - though feel free to scrap them and make your own, maybe with motion capture?
several AnimationTreeNode resources are available to plug into an AnimationTree for the included Human Race.
Documentation
I plan on writing a thorough documentation for the system tomorrow, as well as a video tutorial that walks through setup and basic usage, as well as how to work with the blender files to add animations, clothing etc.
A documentation manual is now avaiable as a separate download (PDF).

Licensing
When you purchase GCCS at the minimum price, you will have the INDIE License, permitting you to use GCCS for any project, forever but only as an individual.
For teams of up to 10 developers, you can purchse the Team license.
For teams of up to 30 developers, you can purchase the Studio license.
Team and studio licenses allows the same team to develop multple games/projects.
None of the licenses permit redistribution or reselling, so don't do that please.
